Mushanana is historically used in East Africa (Burundi or Uganda) and constitutes a large part of Rwandan culture.
The outfit consists of a long skirt gathered at the hips, a bustier and a stole draped over one shoulder.
The fabric can be any color or even printed, but it's usually light and silky to accentuate the drape effect.
It is worn by women and men on special occasions and also during traditional “Intore” dancer performances.
