Le pagne is made from one piece of woven fabric, leather, feather or plant material generally braided and rectangular, fitted around the hips and down to the thighs (pagne short) or ankles (pagne long).
Clothing is now prized by Congolese youth who proudly dress today in the colors of African identity.
During major events such as engagements, weddings, births, birthdays or even during funerals, the pagne is present.
