Formed about 9 million years ago, the Comoros archipelago does not seem to have known human presence until the XNUMXth century with the earliest of the brilliant Swahili civilization which also flourished on the coasts and islands of Kenya and the Tanzania. Maritime trade, very active at that time, attests to contacts with the Muslim Middle East, in particular Persia, then Oman, which would have participated in the Islamization of the Comoros islands.
Today the islands are known for its vanilla, cloves and ylang-ylang which is used for the biggest brands of perfume. The Comorian diaspora in France brings together more than 200 people, particularly in Marseille and the Paris region.
"Love is good medicine."
