Gujarat is one of India's most industrialized and prosperous states, known for its vibrant culture, rich history and economic success. It is the region of origin of Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan.
1️⃣ Holi is one of the most important festivals in Gujarat as 89% of the population is Hindu (2011).
2️⃣ Gujarat was one of the major core areas of the Indus Valley Civilization (3300-1300 BCE).
3️⃣ There is clear historical evidence of trade links with Egypt, Bahrain and Sumer (south-central Iraq) in the Persian Gulf during the period 1000-750 BCE.
4️⃣ Gujarat folk traditions include bhavai and raas-garba which is a dance performed as a celebration of Navratri by Gujarati people. The folk costume for this dance is the chaniya choli for women.
